Is Sloper School right for me?

You will LOVE Sloper School if…

  • You are tired of spending tons of time fitting new patterns when you could be designing or sewing
  • You’ve struggled to learn to fit, because you need to go beyond the “standard” adjustments covered in most books and tutorials
  • You’ve found it hard to learn to fit alone, and want personal feedback from a fitting expert (that’s me!), and to be able to get support from other people going through the same process
  • You’ve tried to make a sloper but given up because most traditional “draft it yourself” techniques don’t work well for curvy or busty bodies
  • You like the idea of making a custom-fit sloper, but you don’t understand how to use it to make other patterns, or adjust new patterns to fit

I don’t know much about fitting— is Sloper School right for me?

This is a great course for sewists at any stage of their fitting journey, even if you’ve never tried fitting before! However, you will need basic sewing skills.

How is this different from the “Fitting for Curves” online workshop?

Sloper School is a totally different approach to fitting, and a new type of course from Cashmerette. In Sloper School, we focus on one fitted, woven dress and work through all the relevant fitting issues, before then teaching you how to use your sloper to adjust new patterns quickly and easily, and hack it into other designs. There are demos on models with different body shapes, advanced fitting techniques not covered in “Fitting for Curves”, you can get personal fit feedback from Jenny Rushmore and the Cashmerette team, and you’ll be part of a real-time, 9 week program, with a group of enthusiastic sewists from around the world.

What is a fitting sloper?

A fitting sloper is a basic, closely fitted pattern that you refine until it fits your body really well—and then you can use it to adjust other sewing patterns to fit you without endless rounds of muslins, or you can use it to create infinite different looks through hacking techniques. A fitting sloper is a foundational template that serves as a starting point for creating custom-fitted garments.

Will I learn how to draft from scratch in this course?

Learning to draft from scratch can be time-intensive, confusing and particularly difficult if you’re curvy – so in Cashmerette Sloper School we’ll help you achieve your custom-fitted sloper faster and more easily by starting with the Wyman Sloper PDF pattern that’s already drafted for curves, in sizes 0-32 and cup sizes C-H.

I don’t have anyone who can help me fit. Can I still do this course?

Yes! In fact, Sloper School is totally designed for sewists who are working solo from home. Between the student community online, and the Cashmerette team, you’ll never feel alone in your fitting journey!  We assume you’re working on this by yourself at home—but you’ll have a whole community online helping you, too.

Can I sign up for this course at any time?

Unlike our previous online workshops, Sloper School runs in sessions, and enrollment happens in a limited timeframe. Registration for the first session opens on March 4, is open for a limited time and ends on March 15, 2024. The course runs for 9 weeks and after it ends, you’ll have unlimited access to all the materials.

Do I have to keep up with the lessons every week?

While it’s ideal to keep up with the lessons every week to make the most of the live Fit Clinics and community discussion, everything will be recorded and you can come back any time later to work at your own pace. That means you’ll have over 30 hours of online instruction that you can also refer back to at any time in the future!

Do I need to be in the Cashmerette Club to participate?

This course is open to everyone! You can enroll in Sloper School for a one-time payment of $175. But if you’re a Club member, it’s even better! All Access club members can enroll for free, and monthly Base & Plus members get a discount—see your Club Dashboard for more details.

I live outside the United States. Can I participate in Sloper School?

Yes, the course is entirely online and open to anyone around the world. For the live Fit Clinics, we’ll be holding them at 2pm and 8:30pm ET to try to maximize the chance everyone can participate, and they’ll also be recorded so you can watch them later if you weren’t able to join live.

How do I access Sloper School?

Sloper School is part of our workshops platform. If you’ve ever purchased one of our online workshops in the past, you likely have an account already, and you can use that same account to access Sloper School. If you’ve never purchased a workshop from us before, you’ll be prompted to create an account when you sign up for Sloper School.

It’s a separate account from our shop and Cashmerette Club accounts, but you can use your same email address and password if you’d like.

Do I need a printer at home to use the Sloper School materials?

To use the Wyman Sloper PDF pattern, you’ll need to download the files to a computer (we do not recommend attempting to download to a tablet or other mobile device). Then you have a choice of how to print it:

Help, I’m having technical issues!

If you’re having any trouble signing up or accessing Sloper School or any of the class materials, shoot us an email at sloper@cashmerette.com and we’ll be happy to help you out!

We hope we’ve answered all of your Sloper School questions, but if not, you can drop them in the comments below and we’ll be happy to help.

This sounds amazing! If I join the club as an All Access member but don’t renew after a year do I still have access to the sloper course after that?

Will there be any content on pant fitting?

Pants slopers are a whole different ballgame! This school focuses on making one well fitting Sloper dress – from which you can make endless dresses, shirts and skirts.

Would this course be beneficial for me. I’m asking this question cause your models are curvy . My next question is would I be able to apply the methods used in the course to make better fitting pants. Thanking you in advance
