Create a well-fitting sloper with the Wyman Dress Sloper sewing pattern, your starting point for a whole wardrobe of possibilities!
This is a past Cashmerette Club pattern, which you can download instantly today as a Cashmerette Club member on our yearly All Access level! To learn more and sign up, click here.
When you have a base sloper pattern that fits you beautifully, you can transform it into an infinite number of garments, knowing that each one will fit you perfectly! Plus, you can use it to help you adjust other sewing patterns to fit you (skipping extra muslins and time) instead of starting from scratch every time you try a new pattern.
But most draft-it-yourself sloper guides aren’t designed for curvy bodies, and they can be complicated and time-intensive to create—so that’s where the Wyman comes in!
With the Wyman, we’ve done the main drafting for you (including our famous C-H cup sizing) so that you can focus on tweaking the fitting sloper to achieve your preferred fit. The Wyman is a PDF pattern for a darted dress that features a fitted bodice, straight skirt, long sleeves, and sloper-specific details like 1″ seam allowances to help you on your fitting journey. And then you’ll learn how to hack it into loads of different styles in this month’s masterclass!
(Want to learn exactly how to fit your Wyman to your body? Stay tuned for a BIG announcement coming soon!)
The Wyman comes in sizes 0-32 and cup sizes C-H and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 (cancel anytime).
What is a fitting sloper?
A fitting sloper is a basic, closely fitted pattern that you refine until it fits your body really well—and then you can use it to adjust other sewing patterns to fit you, or to create different looks through hacking techniques. You may have also heard the terms sloper, moulage or block; they’re all fundamentally the same concept, but in this case, we’re giving you a pattern to start from!
Most of the sloper tutorials out there require you to draft your own sloper using your measurements. But that can be challenging for even highly experienced sewists to do, and most of the time, the guides haven’t fully accounted for the many curves you might have on your body, especially if you have a large bust. It’s no surprise that a lot of people give up in frustration.
As a result, we’ve been getting requests for a sloper pattern for many years—and we’re so thrilled to bring you one at long last! We’ve used our curvy drafting expertise to create a fitting sloper pattern that’s not only easy to use, but is also more likely to fit you from the get-go, with fewer adjustments needed.
And if you don’t particularly want a sloper, no problem! You can also sew up the Wyman in a fashion fabric just like you would any other Cashmerette pattern.
Dawn is wearing a size 22 C/D graded to 24 at the waist and hips, with additional tweaks to customize the fit. Her measurements are 47.5″ high bust, 50″ full bust, 44″ waist, and 54″ hips, and she is 5′ 9″.
Rachel is wearing a size 18 G/H, with additional tweaks to customize the fit. Her measurements are 43″ high bust, 48″ full bust, 40″ waist, and 50″ hips, and she is 5′ 5″.

Brit is wearing a size 8 E/F graded to a size 10 at the waist and hips, with additional tweaks to customize the fit. Her measurements are 34″ high bust, 38″ full bust, 31″ waist, and 41″ hips, and she is 5′ 7″.

The Wyman is designed for midweight woven fabric, such as muslin or cotton broadcloth. We’ve made the samples that you see on our models in muslin.
Once you’re happy with how your Wyman fits, you can make the Wyman in a fashion fabric with your preferred finishing details. Here’s how the Wyman looks in a brocade fabric (and without any style changes) on our lovely model Dawn:
Learn how to hack the Wyman
Once you have your Wyman sloper fitted to your body, you can turn it into endless different dress styles! Change up the neckline, add a lining, play with different sleeve styles, make the skirt longer or shorter or fabulously flowy… The world is your oyster.
In this month’s masterclass (available at the Plus and All Access levels), Jenny shows you how to hack your Wyman to create a wide variety of dresses, including the two Wyman hacks we made for our models Brit and Dawn:
Brit is wearing a Wyman Dress in a speckled flannel with a slit neckline finished with a neckline facing. We’ve also lengthened the skirt and shortened the sleeve.
Dawn is wearing a Wyman Dress in an ecovero twill with a V neckline finished with a bias facing, flutter sleeves and a flowy skirt.
A big thanks to our friends at Needle Sharp, who generously gifted us the fabric for these two samples!
