Your Club Makes: 6 Wonderful Westmore Cardigans

Fall in love with the Westmore Cardigan! Follow along with 6 makers to see how they made up their Westmore Cardigans.

Have you bought a RTW cardigan and found it impossible to snuggle into because there isn’t enough room for your boobs? Or struggled with funky length issues because the designer didn’t account for any curves? This month’s Cashmerette Club pattern, the Westmore Cardigan solves those problems in the most delightful way!

The Westmore is a fit-and-flare cardigan pattern featuring curve-friendly shoulder princess seams and two front styles: a beautifully cascading waterfall or a sleek faced front with a rolled shawl collar. Keep your hands warm and toasty in the Westmore’s optional supported inseam pockets—no droopy pockets here!

The Westmore comes in sizes 0-32 and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 (cancel anytime).

The Westmore is rated beginner, and you can sew your first Westmore with confidence thanks to our free sewalong! Now let’s dig into these wonderful Westmores!

Sheree’s Westmore Cardigan

For this gorgeous waterfall Westmore, Sheree chose a vibrant purple sweater rib knit fabric from Joann Fabrics. She made view A in a size 10 with a C/D cup. We particularly like the addition of knit bias tape to finish the edges.

Her measurements are 34” high bust, 38” full bust, 33” waist, and 38.5” hips (86 cm high bust, 95 full bust, 83 cm waist, 97 cm hips).

Here’s what Sheree shared with us about her Westmore:

“I found this to be a very quick and easy sew. I really enjoyed the process a lot and hope to make another version in sweatshirt fabric. I chose to use a knit bias tape to finish the edges and I found it to be beautiful. The drape is so nice.”

Kathryn’s Westmore Cardigan

Cozy but lightweight, Kathryn’s shawl collar Westmore is perfect for California winters (or Perth, Santiago, and other such temperate locales). Kathryn tailored this garment to fit her shape and style preferences flawlessly. Beginning with an 18 E/F bust and standard bicep, she graded it to a 20 waist/hip, ensuring both comfort and fit.

Her measurements are 43” high bust, 47” full bust, 40” waist, and 51” hips (109 cm high bust, 119 full bust, 101 cm waist, 129 cm hips).

Here’s what Kathryn shared with us about her Westmore:

I used Mind The MAKER Organic Woolen Ottoman Sweater Knit Stretch Fabric in Bottle Green, purchased from Minerva. The fiber content is 85% cotton, 15% wool. It’s a bit stretchier and lighter-weight than recommended for this pattern, but the wool adds a wonderful warmth, it has a lovely drape, and it’s the perfect weight for California winters! I used the ribbed side for most of the cardigan and the opposite, smoother side for the facing for a bit of contrast peaking out of the shawl collar.

Phoebe’s Westmore Cardigan

When Phoebe scored this deadstock stretch rib knit in a coal grey marle, she saved it for just the right garment. While the poly/viscose/cotton/cashmere knit is far stretchier (30%) than the pattern calls for, it was stable enough to work with. The 5% cashmere gave it just enough soft and coziness to make a difference.

Her measurements are 35” high bust, 40” full bust, 32” waist, and 45” hips (90 cm high bust, 103 full bust, 81 cm waist, 115 cm hips).

Here’s what Phoebe shared with us about her Westmore:

It was a fairly straightforward sew. I sewed a lot of the seams on my overlocker. To make sure I got the pockets nice and neat, I did sew the side seams on the sewing machine and finished with the overlocker. Love how the pockets are secured to the front princess seam so they don’t droop!

It’s still quite hot in southern Australia in March, but this is going to be the perfect weight once we get some chilly mornings, and for the office in winter when the heating is set to man-in-a-suit temperatures. I love a long cardie to throw over leggings and a T-shirt; the Westmore also goes excellently over a full skirt.

Tiffaney’s Westmore Cardigan

The shiny, happy Tango Red of Tiffaney’s waterfall Westmore makes us jump for joy. She made her Westmore in a size 22 with no grading. Because Tiffaney prefers a 3/4 sleeve, she shortened the sleeves and she’s got a comfortable, easy to wear, perfectly fitted layering piece.

Her measurements are 46” high bust, 48” full bust, 48.5” waist, 56” hips, and 17” bicep (116 cm high bust, 122 full bust, 123 cm waist, 142 cm hips, 43 cm bicep).

Here’s what Tiffaney shared with us about her Westmore:

The Westmore was an easy cardigan to sew-up! I found the instructions to be straight-forward with a lot of opportunities for a custom fit. I made no adjustments with C/D cup front and the standard sleeve. The Westmore cardigan is perfect piece for a heavily air conditioned office or a breezy movie theater.

Shruti’s Westmore Cardigan

Soft and fluffy is the name of the game for Shruti’s beautiful brushed sweater knit Westmore. Made in a straight size 16 with a C/D cup, this swingy cotton-poly cardi looks absolutely adorable over a dress (as shown) or jeans.

Her measurements are 41” high bust, 44” full bust, 43” waist, and 54” hips (104 cm high bust, 112 full bust, 109 cm waist, 137 cm hips).

Here’s what Shruti shared with us about her Westmore:

Sewing this up was a reminder of how amazing Jenny’s patterns are. They are so considered at every point – use this stitch type, use this stitch length, etc – and following her instructions will always give you the precise finish you need. Every piece also matched up perfectly, without any manipulation being required whatsoever! All of this made it such a treat to sew. then getting to wear this at the end is such a treat. The gorgeous curve of the neckline sits in such an elegant manner, it’s catching yourself in that moment saying “I made this”. ☺️

Emma’s Westmore Cardigan

This extra cozy layering cardigan was made by Emma from Mind the Maker woolen mold sweater knit in bottle green. It was made in a size 4, with C/D cup size in View B with the shawl collar.

Her measurements are 33” high bust, 35” full bust, 28” waist, and 38” hips (84 cm high bust, 89 full bust, 71 cm waist, 96 cm hips).

Here’s what Emma shared with us about her Westmore:

I found this a really easy to sew and fit garment. The instructions were well written and easy to understand so it would be a great pattern choice for beginners. I decided on size based on the bust measurement as it is loose on the waist and hip. I love the shape of the cardigan where it is more fitted in the upper half and then flares out at the bottom which makes it very flattering. The fabric is very warm and cosy and I know the cardigan will get a lot of wear as it is super comfortable.
