If you’ve decided you can never wear certain styles of button-ups (or button-ups at all!) because ready-to-wear options just aren’t made for curves, have we got news for you. This month’s Cashmerette Club pattern, the Haskell Shirt, was designed with you in mind—no gaping, no tugging, no fussing.

Meet the Haskell Shirt, the relaxed fit button-up of your dreams, featuring a camp-style collar and curve-friendly bust darts. With a stylish wide yoke that peeks in the front, grown on sleeves, and a fashionable curved hem, you’ll look comfortable, polished, and stylish.

The Haskell comes in sizes 0-32 and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 (cancel anytime).

The Haskell is rated advanced beginner, and you can sew your first Haskell with confidence thanks to our free sewalong!

Now let’s dig into these heavenly Haskells!

Kathryn’s Haskell Shirt

Kathryn’s scrapbusting Haskell is just too wonderful for words. She mixed and matched leftover linen blend fabrics from past projects along with a 70% rayon / 30% linen blend for the main striped fabric. She made her Haskell in an 18 E/F bust, 20 waist, and 22 hip for extra ease. The way she styled it 3 ways (shown below) shows how flexible the shirt is once made!

Her measurements are 43” high bust, 47” full bust, 40” waist, and 51” hips (109 cm high bust, 119 full bust, 101 cm waist, 129 cm hips).

Here’s what Kathryn shared with us about her Haskell:

“I’m a total sucker for camp shirts – I love sewing them (although this was the first I’ve ever sewn for myself!) There’s something about the forgiving fit, the lack of collar stand and sleeve plackets, and the dependable sequence of steps (lookin’ at you, burrito method) that I find satisfying and enjoyable to sew up. So, I was excited to see that my second Cashmerette Club collaborator pattern would be the Haskell camp shirt.

I found the instructions straightforward and intuitive – the hardest part, honestly, was deciding on which fabric I’d make it out of. I went with a more drapey linen/rayon blend but the Haskell would be equally cute in a cotton lawn or lightweight poplin for a bit more structure. I was surprised and excited to see some unique Cashmerette details that set this top apart from previous camp shirts I’ve sewn – a back yoke that carries over to the front, grown on sleeves, a curved hem, angled bust darts, and even a bit of waist shaping. I sized up in the hips for more ease, but with the curved hem, I probably didn’t need to and would use my regular hip measurements next time.

All in all, a fun sew and a versatile piece that can be worn buttoned up, tied at the waist, and open as an overshirt!”

Phoebe’s Haskell Shirt

Phoebe made not one, but two versions of the Haskell and we couldn’t pick a favorite if we tried! She graded from a 10 G/H to 12 waist and 14 hip, 16 at the hem. We love the blue shirt in viscose double georgette with bias strips from scraps of the same fabric. And doesn’t the yoke look fantastic?

After making the shirt, Phoebe liked the pattern so much she made a red, white, and black dress in viscose crepe with black cotton poplin bias. We love the way she hacked it, and the curved hem of the Haskell and the in-seam pockets from the Upton Dress make this dress extra special!

Her measurements are 35” high bust, 40” full bust, 32” waist, and 45” hips (90 cm high bust, 103 full bust, 81 cm waist, 115 cm hips).

Here’s what Phoebe shared with us about her Haskell:

“I decided to skip the chest pockets because I wasn’t sure my fabric would behave given how drapey it is. I French seamed the darts as well as the side seams and really appreciate how great the finish came out on the inside! I hadn’t sewn a camp collar shirt with the burrito method before so I really had to pay attention to the instructions, but it was like magic when I pulled it all through. I found my Haskell so cool and comfy to wear, I decided to make a second one, lengthened into a dress. I just extended my side seam lines at the same angle and redrew the hem.”

Tiffaney’s Haskell Shirt

Charming checks make Tiffaney’s Haskell a perfect every day wear with load of visual interest. Made in a 22 C/D, Tiffaney used a multi-color rainbow cotton plaid with navy cotton coordinating (and popping!) pockets and cuffs.

Her measurements are 46” high bust, 48” full bust, 48.5” waist, 56” hips, and 17” bicep (116 cm high bust, 122 full bust, 123 cm waist, 142 cm hips, 43 cm bicep).

Here’s what Tiffaney shared with us about her Haskell:

“I used a multi-color/rainbow plaid from Joann’s. The fiber is cotton. I added a solid blue, woven fabric for the pockets and cuffs from my stash I got to practice a few different skills making the Haskell top. I got to use the burrito method to enclose the seams in the yoke. I practiced applying pockets and making a collar; Also, a facing and buttonholes. I found the instructions to be easy to follow and was impressed with my completed top. I will make the Haskell top again. I think it would be cute to be extended into a dress.”

Sheree’s Haskell Shirt

Talk about casual chic! Sheree’s Haskell in a 10 C/D was made with a stunning Robert Kaufman black-and-white Frida Kahlo print. It looks great tucked in or untucked, but it looks especially slick under a leather jacket.

Her measurements are 34” high bust, 38” full bust, 33” waist, and 38.5” hips (86 cm high bust, 95 full bust, 83 cm waist, 97 cm hips).

Here’s what Sheree shared with us about her Haskell:

“I enjoyed swinging this button up. It was beginner friendly and the instructions were very clear.”

Emma’s Haskell Shirt

Who says a camp shirt can’t be elegant? Not Emma. She made her size 4 C/D Haskell in this chic and refined smokey viscose dobby and it really takes the whole shirt up a notch. Her shirt is perfect for work or a slightly elevated weekend look.

Her measurements are 33” high bust, 35” full bust, 28” waist, and 38” hips (84 cm high bust, 89 full bust, 71 cm waist, 96 cm hips).

Here’s what Kathryn shared with us about her Haskell:

“This pattern has some really beautiful details such as the gathered yoke and the curved hem. The instructions were very easy to follow and made for a pleasurable sewing experience. I struggled a little with French seaming the dart and had to unpick a few times but I got there in the end! The collar was the easiest I have ever installed and made me very happy. It’s a shirt that looks just as good with jeans on the weekend as it does with tailored trousers for work so it’s super versatile.”
