Your Club Makes: 10 Marvelous Merciers

Everyone is jumping for joy for the Mercier Jumpsuit, our first ever jumpsuit and this month’s Cashmerette Club pattern!  Follow along with 7 makers to see how they crafted their ideal Mercier Jumpsuits and get inspired to make a Mercier or two of your own!

Designed for curves, comfort, and style, the Mercier Jumpsuit features a wrap top, waist darts for shaping, straight-leg pants with an elasticated back waistband, and short sleeves (or use the sleeves from the Grafton Dress, Top and Skirt Mix & Match Pack). Or if you’re not feeling the jumpsuit trend, you can pair the Mercier’s wrap top with the skirts from the Grafton Mix & Match Pack to create over two dozen different Mercier dresses.

The Mercier comes in sizes 0-32 and cup sizes C-H and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 (cancel anytime).

Now without further ado, let’s jump right into all of the marvelous ways to personalize the Mercier!

Amanda’s Mercier Jumpsuit

Comfortable, fun and put together is how Amanda describes her Mercier Jumpsuit and we couldn’t agree more. (Though, we would also add “ruched to perfection”.) Sewn in a size 20 G/H in a vibrant pink cotton spandex French terry, Amanda’s Mercier feels like secret pajamas and is the perfect mom-on-the-go outfit this fall. She also added an exterior channel for ties so that she could ruche the sides adding a bit of personality and pizzazz to this magnificent Mercier.

Her measurements are 45” high bust, 51” full bust, 42” waist, and 50” hips.

Amanda shared this about her Mercier Jumpsuit:

“The Mercier was a delight to sew. The construction was a bit unexpected, but I enjoyed doing things a different way. It wears like secret pajamas- especially in the fabric I chose. I will be feeling comfortable, fun and put together while chasing around my littles (and sitting in carpool let’s be real) this fall!”

Basma’s Mercier Jumpsuit

From a night on the town to lounging around the house, the versatility is what drew Basma to the Mercier. Sewn in a size 30 G/H in a vibrant floral ITY, Basma sewed her Mercier in one day. Sleek, functional, and a quick make—now that’s what we’re talking about!

Her measurements are 52” high bust, 57” full bust, 51” waist, and 61” hips.

Basma had this to say about her Mercier Jumpsuit:

“The Mercier Jumpsuit so comfortable to wear that it feels like pajamas!  It’s perfect for a night out or just lounging around. I thought this would be a complicated make, but I sewed the whole thing in one busy Sunday.”

Julia’s Mercier Wrap Dress

Julia is a sunflower vision to behold in her Mercier and we love how she truly made it her own. Wary of wrap-style dresses due to previous fit issues, she was pleasantly surprised and happy with the fit of her Mercier/Grafton combo dress. Sewn in a size 20 G/H with the Grafton’s circle skirt in a cotton jersey, her sunflower wrap dress is a gorgeous mix and match with the Grafton and we can’t get enough of that fit!

Her measurements are 43” high bust, 46” full bust, 39” waist, and 45” hips.

Julia had this to say about her Mercier Wrap Dress:

“I’m usually pretty wary of wrap or wrap-style dresses since I usually have fit issues on the bust, but since Cashmerette comes with various bust options, I found a fit I was happy with! I was really excited to find it could be mixed with the Grafton and chose to pair the Mercier bodice with the Grafton circle skirt.”

Rebecca’s Mercier Jumpsuit

Rebecca says her Mercier Jumpsuit is both comfortable and glamorous and that’s a winning combination in our book! She sewed hers in a size 6 E/F graded to an 8 in the hip, shortened the rise by 1.5″, and went with a show-stopping deep purple modal jersey that when paired with the Grafton’s bishop sleeves looks perfectly posh.

Her measurements are 32.5” high bust, 37.5” full bust, 28” waist, and 39” hips.

Rebecca shared this about her Mercier Jumpsuit:

“Knit jumpsuits are my fav! They feel like super comfy PJs, but look hella glamorous. I know I’ll be making more of these Merciers this winter.”

Kemi’s Mercier Jumpsuits

Ever the prolific sewist, Kemi made four Merciers!  She made 3 jumpsuits and a wrap dress, all in a size 14 E/F.

For her first jumpsuit she chose a lovely petrol blue rayon/spandex crepe knit. Her second jumpsuit was crafted using a gray and black abstract polyester/spandex knit. Her wrap dress is made with a green polyester/spandex with the Mercier bodice and the Grafton A-line Skirt with mid length sleeves and in-seam pockets. And her fourth and final creation is a jumpsuit made of a stunning color-blocked red and blue polyester ponte. All were sewn up beautifully and she’s received a lot of compliments, especially on the color-blocked jumpsuit.

Overall, she enjoyed the process of crafting her Merciers and loves the results. We have to say, we’re loving the results too!

Her measurements are 41” high bust, 43” full bust, 36” waist, and 44” hips.

Kemi shared this about her Mercier Jumpsuits and Wrap Dress:

“The pattern instructions were easy to follow and it sewed up beautifully. I enjoyed the process and loved the results – I made three jumpsuits and a dress. I was very excited to finish the colour blocked jumpsuit. All the resulting garments are very comfortable to wear and I received a lot of compliments, especially on the petrol blue and the colour-blocked jumpsuits. The wrap dress is based on the Mercier bodice with the Grafton A-Line skirt and mid length sleeves with in-seam pockets.”

Leah’s Mercier Jumpsuit

Bright, bold, and slightly retro, Leah’s Mercier is an orange floral dream. Sewn in a size 8 C/D grading to a 10 at the waist and 6 at the hip, she went with a bold print double brushed poly that shows off the flow of the wide legs while balancing the fitted bodice. A big fan of the support and simplicity of the cross front bodice, she plans on making more Merciers next summer.

Her measurements are 37” high bust, 36.5” full bust, 31” waist, and 38” hips.

Here’s what Leah had to say about her Mercier Jumpsuit:

“I decided to swing big with a bright, bold print for my Mercer. Double brushed poly was the perfect fabric choice for a jumpsuit.  It shows off the flow of the wide legs while providing stretch to balance with a more fitted bodice. I love the slightly-retro vibes my Mercer gives! Plus it’s comfy and easy to wear while looking very put together.

The Mercer pattern is very easy to follow, with a unique waistband and tie front construction that provides stability and support for the full-length legs that could be quite heavy, depending on fabric choice.  I really like the simple cross front of the bodice. I will definitely be making this pattern again, maybe with the Grafton skirt or shorts for next summer.”

Sangeeta’s Mercier Jumpsuit

Sangeeta’s Mercier playsuit is serving fun, vibrant, and playful vibes and we can’t get enough of this perky personalization! Sewn in a size 16 C/D, graded to an 18 waist and constructed with a fun floral cotton jersey, she cut the Mercier’s pants down to shorts length and made a sleeveless playsuit that is both versatile and chic.

Her measurements are 42” high bust, 44” full bust, 38” waist, and 48” hips.

Sangeeta shared this about her Mercier Jumpsuit:

“I made a sleeveless playsuit version of the jumpsuit. With the detailed instructions it wasn’t that difficult to sew up.”

Wow!!! They are all gorgeous. Haven’t worn a jumpsuit in a very long time–but these ladies are changing my mind. Gorgeous fabrics and renditions of the pattern. Being able to combine the Mercier with other options is even more appealing. Thank you ladies and Cashmerette for this showcase!

  2. Billy says:

Gorgeous! Nice to see the larger G/H cup size represented!

  3. Elizabeth Baron-Kuhn says:

Congratulations to all these talented and beautiful woman and gorgeous makes. I agree it makes me want to consider a jumpsuit— maybe test the water with a wrap dress first-?! LOL

  4. Sandra says:

They all look fab, but I especially like Basma’s tropical floral, and Rebecca’s purple with bishop sleeves is absolutely stunning! Is the pattern beginner-friendly though?!

    1. It’s a little bit tricky in construction around the waistband so I’d say it’s advanced beginner – or beginner willing to give it a try! We do have a video sewalong which will also help a lot

Let me know what you think!
