Your Club Makes: 5 Awesome Avolas

December’s here and we’re saying a festive hello to the Avola Slip Dress & Top, this month’s Cashmerette Club pattern! Here’s how five makers created their own versions of the Avola to inspire you this season.

If you’re curvy, it’s nearly impossible to find a ready-to-wear cami or strappy dress that actually fits without all of the gaping. But all that changes today thanks to the Avola! With bust darts and a center back seam for shaping through the bust and waist plus two strap options, the Avola is sure to fill all manner of gaps in your wardrobe (without any gaping). Make a slinky slip, a strappy dress, a traditional camisole, a casual tank, or a sophisticated nightgown–all with this single pattern.

The Avola Slip Dress & Top comes in sizes 0-32 and cup sizes C-H and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members.

This is a past Cashmerette Club pattern, which you can download instantly today as a Cashmerette Club member on our yearly All Access level! To learn more and sign up, click here.

Sarah’s Avola

Sarah’s lovely rendition of the Avola Slip Dress is party-ready! She used a metallic loosely woven tweed with silk velvet at the hem and customized it with eye-catching color blocking and bows on the shoulder straps.

Sarah made the 20 G/H and took in the waist and hips for a closer fit. Her measurements are 43” high bust, 49” full bust, 41.5” waist, and 50.5” hip.

Sarah shared this about her Avola:

“It was a straight-forward sew, but I love how easily it can be customized. It was comfortable to wear and I can see it being an incredibly versatile pattern, as making it in a casual vs. dressy fabric would have an entirely different effect, not to mention making it as a top or as a dress.”

Trine’s Avola

Trine made her Avola Top in a black crepe georgette fabric in a size 14 G/H cup, graded to a size 16 waist. Her measurements are 38.5″ high bust, 44″ full bust, 36″ waist, and 48″ hip.

Here’s what Trine shared with us about her Avola:

“It was a quick and satisfying sew. I really like the fit, and I can see myself wearing it a lot. I really like the classic look of it, and the wide straps that cover my bra straps.”

Sierra’s Avola

Sierra’s version of the Avola Slip Dress is giving us all the confident party vibes and we’re here for it. She made a 26 G/H with zero adjustments—we love when everything just comes together, don’t you?

Sierra’s measurements are 50.5″ high bust, 56″ full bust, 46″ waist, and 56″ hip, and she is 5 ft, 7″ in tall.

Sierra told us this about her Avola make:

“I feel very sexy in this dress. It’s an instant mood booster. The instructions were straightforward and clear. I enjoyed making this dress and can absolutely see more in my future.”

Rebecca’s Avola

Everything about Rebecca’s Avola Top is classic and stunning. She chose a midweight satin in a size 8 G/H and graded to 10 at the waist.

Rebecca’s measurements are 33.5″ high bust, 38.5″ full bust, 31″ waist, and 38″ hip.

Rebecca shared this with us about her Avola:

“The Avola came together so nicely and is going to become a classic piece in my wardrobe. The lining stays put and I prefer it to facings. I also appreciate the option for wider straps to cover bra straps better.”

Gemma’s Avola

Gemma created her Avola Top out of a navy floral georgette fabric with a pale pink polyester lining fabric. She made a size 18 G/H with a 3” full bust adjustment graded out to a 28 at the waist and 32 at the hips.

Gemma’s measurements are 43″ high bust, 51″ full bust, 48″ waist, and 61″ hip.

Here are Gemma’s thoughts on her Avola:

“The Avola is an incredibly easy pattern to sew and comes together very quickly. It’s a very versatile pattern too. I intend to wear mine as a camisole top with jeans and pair it with some matching shorts or pajama bottoms to make it nightwear.”
