Cashmerette Club: Meet the Creston Jeans, the Club pattern for August!

Non-stretch jeans that are actually comfortable?! You heard it right, folks! This month’s Cashmerette Club pattern is the Creston Jeans, woven jeans designed for curves with our innovative flex waistband and optional full bum back piece.

This is a past Cashmerette Club pattern, which you can download instantly today as a Cashmerette Club member on our yearly All Access level! To learn more and sign up, click here.

Straight leg non-stretch jeans are back in style, but they can be really uncomfortable if you’re curvy and expand as you sit down. If you’ve been eyeing this trend but are unwilling to sacrifice on comfort, your denim dreams are coming true today!

The Creston Jeans are high rise woven jeans designed for curves with our popular flex waistband (also featured on our Meriam Trousers) that expands as you sit—or choose the standard waistband for a classic fit—plus the option of a full bum adjustment piece, already done for you. Featuring front slash pockets and essential jeans details like a fly front, back yoke, back patch pockets, and topstitching and hardware throughout, the Creston will have you falling in love with denim all over again.

(Prefer to stick with your beloved stretch denim? You can make the Creston Jeans out of stretch denim, however you may need to size down. Make a muslin using a fabric with similar stretch to determine sizing.)

And as a special treat this month, we’ve got brand new jeans kits thanks to our friends at Core Fabrics! Keep reading to learn more.

The Creston Jeans sewing pattern comes in sizes 0-32 and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 USD—cancel anytime.

Comfort like never before thanks to waistband magic!

What makes the Creston Jeans so comfortable? A flex waistband that gives you 3-4 inches of extra room when you sit down!

Non-stretch jeans can be pretty uncomfortable if your waist and tummy spreads when you sit down—and whose doesn’t? Often your only options are to either make the jeans in a bigger size (and then they slip when you’re standing up) or to use a visible elastic waistband. And while we love a good visible elastic waistband, it isn’t always the look you want.

So we’ve devised a flexible waistband that allows the waist of the Creston Jeans to expand as you sit down. And it’s totally hidden for a clean finish that doesn’t take away from the traditional jeans look.

And you can sew your flex waistband with ease thanks to our free Creston Jeans sewalong! Or if you prefer to stick with a classic jeans waistband, we’ve got that too.

Devoted to stretch? Shhh—you can make these from stretch denim too, we won’t tell! If you’re using the flex waistband, be sure to make a muslin first to see if you want to go down a size.

Michelle is wearing a size 24 waist graded to a 22 in the hips. Her measurements are 46″ waist and 54″ hips, and she is 5′ 6″.

Jenny is wearing a size 16 waist graded to a 14 in the hips. Her measurements are 39″ waist and 44″ hips, and she is 5′ 6″.

Megha is wearing a size 6 waist graded to an 8 in the hips with the full bum back piece. Her measurements are 29″ waist and 42″ hips, and she is 5′ 2″.

Meet the Creston Jeans

Make way for your new favorite high rise jeans! Designed for curves, comfort, and style, the Creston features:

  • A curve-friendly design with side seam shaping and our popular flex waistband that expands by 3-4″ as you sit down, or a standard waistband with belt loops
  • Standard back piece or a full bum back piece with a 1″ full bum adjustment already done for you
  • Classic straight legs
  • Front slash pockets to store all your stuff
  • Back yoke for beautiful bum shaping
  • Back patch pockets that can be embroidered with your own unique designs
  • Front zip fly with jeans button
  • Classic jeans topstitching and rivets throughout

The Creston has two views: View A is rated advanced and includes the flex waistband, while View B is rated advanced beginner and includes a standard waistband. Whichever view you choose, you can sew it with ease thanks to our free step-by-step video sewalong, hosted by Saremy of Sew Sew Live.

The Creston comes in sizes 0-16 and 12-32, and Club members get both size ranges included. Check out guide to taking your measurements for the Creston, and if you need to grade between sizes, we have a tutorial for that here.

This pattern comes with a standard back piece and a full bum back piece. Use the full bum adjustment piece if you typically have an issue with waistbands gaping at the back. (If you need additional room in the bum, here’s how to do a full bum adjustment.)

All-in-One Creston Jeans Kits

Our fabulous friends at Core Fabrics supplied us with the denim for the three pairs of Crestons you see on our lovely models—and they want to help you sew your dream Crestons, too!

Core Fabrics is offering all-in-one Creston kits of each of the samples you see: true indigo (shown on Michelle), deep indigo (shown on Megha), and white (shown on Jenny).

(Kits available while supplies last.)
