Meet the Murcot Puffer Vest

Designed for curves, comfort, and coziness, the Murcot features:

  • Bust-friendly design with shoulder princess seams and cup sizes C-H
  • Warm puffer outer layer created by quilting the main fabric to batting
  • Full lining for a clean inside finish
  • Collar that stands up and keeps your neck warm
  • Snap closures
  • Optional puffy welt pockets to keep your hands warm and store all your stuff
  • A step-by-step video sewalong that is available to watch anytime

The Murcot is rated intermediate and comes with two quilting templates: View A has horizontal lines that angle to a V at the back, while View B has wavy lines that run up and down. Or get creative and design your own—we want to see you show off those free-motion quilting skills!

The Murcot is designed for light-to mid-weight non stretch woven fabric such as cotton, woven polyester, or nylon. The lining can be made with a lightweight non-stretch fabric and the batting should be a high loft batting approximately ½” thick, such as 6 oz polyester batting, Quilters Dream Puff, or wool (standard cotton batting will not provide enough loft for the puffer look).

Michelle is wearing View A in a cotton lawn. Jan Marie is wearing View B in a tencel twill.

  1. Carol Ray says:

Can the Murcot Puffer Vest be lengthened to hip length?

    1. Ayelet says:

Sure! You can extend the seams straight down or curve them outward to give you more room in the hips, depending on what you need. Or you can use the lengthen/shorten lines on the pattern pieces, or a combination of the two.
