Updated March 2026
If you’re just starting out sewing your clothes it can be hard to figure out where you can buy fabric online. But no fear! I’ve rounded up a list of my favourite online fabric stores to help you find amazing fabric options for your new handmade wardrobe.

Once you have a list of trusted sources, buying fabric is a really fun part of the garment sewing process! Just thinking about browsing all the various colours, patterns and textures gets me fired up and ready to sew—and choosing fabric is where you can really tap into your creativity and personal style. And when you’re able to sew your own clothes, you get to choose exactly what you want to wear whether it’s crisp cottons, snuggly wools, or fancy silk.
However, I’ll be the first to tell you that there is practically an infinite variety of fabrics available, so it’s easy to be a bit overwhelmed by options even if you’re not a beginner. This is especially true when if you’re shopping online and can’t actually touch the fabric. But I’m here to help!
