Cashmerette Club: Meet the Irving Dress, the Club Pattern for May

There’s nothing I like more than an effortless, throw-on-and-go dress I can wear all summer. The quicker I can get out the door and enjoy the sunshine (while still feeling chic and put-together), the better! But finding a ready-to-wear option that works for big boobs? That’s another story.

Enter: the Irving Dress!

A midi-length dress with a fitted bodice and gathered skirt, the Irving is just as easy to sew as it is to slip on. It has pockets (yay!), and it’s bra-friendly (double yay!). But my favorite part is the deep scoop neckline that fits my bust how I want it to. No squeezing or any of that funny business where the waistline hits mid-boob. I, for one, will be making a few of these, and can’t wait to see how you interpret the Irving Dress for your own warm-weather wardrobe!

Get the Irving for as little as $9 when you join Cashmerette Club today.

The Irving Dress is a knit dress sewing pattern that comes in sizes 0–32 and cup sizes C–H, and it’s exclusively available to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? Join today for as little as $9 a month and get the Irving instantly.

Picking fabric for your Irving

The Irving is designed for light- to mid-weight knit fabrics such as jersey, ITY, or Liverpool knit with at least 25% stretch both horizontally and vertically. For the bodice lining, you can use the same fabric as the main, or a lighter weight knit with the same amount of stretch.

Our friends at Screech Owl Fine Fabrics want to help you find your perfect fabric for your first Irving Dress with 15% off all full price items, all month long and exclusively for Club members!

More from the Club this month

This month’s masterclass is all about converting darts to princess seams and vice versa! Whether you like the look you get with one style or prefer the fit you get with the other, you’ll learn how to effortlessly switch between the two shaping methods, so you can create your ideal style, every time.

This month’s live event is all about linings! Linings may be hidden, but they can make all the difference when it comes to finishing, quality, structure, and comfort. I’ll cover when your garment needs a lining and how to add it. Clear your calendar on Wednesday, May 28th at 12pm EDT (9am PDT; 5pm BST; May 29th @ 2am AEST)!

Let’s make something beautiful

I’ll be honest, the Irving is almost too much fun, especially when you mix it up with other pieces from our Collection and Club patterns. I’m still finding new ways to play with this design (Irving + Glover Jean Jacket = brunch vibes!).

Remember to share your makes with us using #IrvingDress and #CashmeretteClub and be another curvy sewist’s inspiration!

Hi, The Irving is an attractive dress, but are the finished garment correct or are they under the wrong sizes? Eg size 12 shows High Bust and Full Bust C/D body measurements 37” and 40” respectively. But the finished garment measurement for Size 12 Full Bust C/D is much smaller, shown as 31.75 “. Thanks!

    1. Carrie McGowan says:

Hi Sara! The Irving Dress is drafted with negative ease at the bust for a great fit so those finished garment measurements are correct! We have a post explaining negative ease here: https://blog.cashmerette.com/2019/02/what-is-negative-ease-and-how-does-it-work.html
