Transforming Sewing for Every Body: A Sloper School Success Story

When we launched Sloper School last year, we knew it would be special—but watching sewists of all shapes, sizes, and needs create custom-fitted slopers that truly worked for their unique bodies was nothing short of magical. Today, we’re thrilled to share Lolie’s story with you.

Lolie joined us from Canada with a specific wish: to create a sloper that would work beautifully as someone who often uses a wheelchair. Traditional patterns rarely account for seated body measurements and proportions, but through Sloper School’s personalized guidance and community support, Lolie made fantastic progress. Her determination and creativity resulted in a sloper that finally addressed her unique fitting needs—opening up a world of design possibilities that actually fit her body and lifestyle.

Stories like Lolie’s are why we’re so excited to announce Sloper School 2025! If you’re tired of endless fitting adjustments and dream of creating garments that fit your body perfectly—whatever your shape, size, or needs—we’d love to have you join our next cohort.

Lolie’s Sloper School Story

What were you hoping to achieve by joining Cashmerette Sloper School?

When signing up for the Cashmerette Sloper School, I was hoping to finally manage to fit a sloper for the seated position (for me in particular). I’ve been trying on and off for a few years to fit a sloper to me and my predominant position, but without success as my knowledge and mastering of fitting was mediocre at best. I still always learnt more though each time I tried with more or less success. I managed to make a pants pattern that works well seated but the skirt still eluded me. The only skirt type I didn’t try yet was a sheath skirt like in the Wyman Sloper so I decided to give it a try and see if it could work out better.

How did you find the process of creating and refining your Sloper?

Creating and refining my sloper was such a great learning experience! I learned much more than how to adapt the skirt pattern, which I figured out myself after learning of all the techniques to manipulate a muslin and how to transfer it back on the pattern. Through all that, I had Jenny’s and her crew’s help from start to finish. They were so so helpful and I could shoot them an email at any time to ask for advice. There were also Live Fit Clinics, where you could register to talk directly with Jenny about your muslin and how to better it. I can really say I learned so much. I would like to redo it on someone else now to apply and consolidate everything I learned. It was fascinating.

What would you advise anyone thinking of participating in Sloper School?

Be ready to work and put time aside for it each and every week. You will benefit so much from doing that and will profit from the course tenfold than if you just watch the recordings and not actually apply it. You’ll encounter blocks but you’ll have the help you need to go past it every time. There’s a treasure trove of knowledge and creativity in those who made this course and you can really get to see how they see your muslin. You just have to be ready to participate fully!

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

There is an incredible value in this course and I just recommend you take it and give it your all!
