Picking fabric for your Mansfield
The Mansfield underdress is designed for light to mid-weight woven fabrics, like polyester sateen, silk or silk-cotton blend. If you’re wearing the underdress alone, heavier fabrics like brocade or jacquard are also a great option.
The Mansfield overdress/skirt is designed for sheer fabrics such as organza, tulle or lace. Fabric embellished with embroidery, beads or sequins will also stun in the Mansfield!

More from the Club this month
Even when I can find ready-to-wear clothes that fit me (not often!), I frequently find myself rejecting them because the neckline just isn’t right for me. So one of the things I find most liberating about sewing my own is I can get the *exact* neckline I want, every time! Changing the neckline of a sewing pattern is very straightforward in most cases, and in this month’s masterclass I’m teaching you the fundamental techniques you need to know. Whether you want to raise or lower a neckline for comfort, widen or narrow it for coverage, or even change it up entirely, you’ll learn how.
Club masterclasses are one of the most popular parts of the Cashmerette Club, and they’re exclusive for Plus and All Access members, who get immediate access to the whole library of over 30 fitting video lessons.
This month’s live event is a holiday party! To celebrate the launch of the ultimate party dress, the Mansfield, we’re going to have a party outfit “show and tell”. Wear your fave Cashmerette party dress and share with the whole gang! I’ll also share my tips for creating fabulous party dresses with the Cashmerette catalog, and some advice on working with special occasion fabrics. Join us live on Wednesday, December 11th at 3pm EST (12pm PST, 8pm GMT, Dec 12 @ 7am, AEDT).
I have a feeling the Mansfield is going to become a much reached-for pattern in my collection, because it works for just so many special occasions—and combined with the Upton Mix and Match pack, there’s a style for every party, gala and wedding! I hope you also feel inspired by the Mansfield, and make sure you tag us so I can celebrate along with you too! Use #MansfieldDress and #CashmeretteClub.
I bought the Upton and am pretty excited about a kit to make different dresses. Another whole kit that dovetails into Upton is just amazing! Especially as this is for fabric I want to wear but had no idea how to make them a dress.
