Cashmerette Club: Meet the Kenwin T-Shirt, the Club Pattern for September

The t-shirt is the true workhorse of any wardrobe: for every season of the year, you can build your outfit around a t-shirt. And now you have even more options with the Kenwin T-Shirt, this month’s Cashmerette Club pattern!

Much more than a basic tee, the Kenwin T-Shirt features raglan sleeves (with our famous Cashmerette bust-friendly fit), and a cool cross-over back that won’t show your bra. It’s easy to make, comfy to wear, and will be your new go-to all year round.

The Kenwin T-Shirt comes in sizes 0 – 32, and cup sizes C – H and it’s exclusively available to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet? You can join today on our monthly or yearly plan – learn more by clicking the button below.

Carrie’s measurements are high bust 34” (86 cm), full bust 38” (96 cm), waist 31” (78 cm), hip 39” (99 cm) and she’s 5’4”. She’s wearing a 8 E/F graded to a 10 waist and hips. Her Kenwin is made with Viscose/Spandex knit kindly supplied by Stonemountain & Daughter Fabrics.

Carrie’s long sleeved Kenwin is made with fabric from the Cashmerette stash.

Meet the Kenwin T-Shirt

The Kenwin is a simple, but elevated, fitted knit t-shirt. It features raglan sleeves combined with our famed Cashmerette curve-friendly t-shirt fit to minimize wrinkling at the armpits (if you’re busty, you know what I mean!). And, the Kenwin has a beautiful cross-over design at the back, with a cleverly designed neckband to stop it gaping (want 100% security? Just add a bar tack at the cross-over point). Choose from two different sleeve lengths to customize your look.

The Kenwin is rated beginner, and is a very quick and easy sew for more advanced sewists. Still on your learning journey? No problem! We also have a step-by-step video sewalong which will take you through the whole process.

Hang on… is it REVERSIBLE?!

I know what you’re thinking… could you wear the Kenwin… backwards?? Why yes, you can. Thanks to the stretchiness of knits, Kenwin also works with the cross-over in the front for most (but probably not all) people, depending on the height of your bust on your torso- it’s a pretty deep V but as you can see it works on both Carrie and Jenny! Double the fun.

Choosing the best fabric for your Kenwin

The Kenwin T-Shirt is designed for light to midweight knit fabrics with at least 50% crosswise stretch. We love bamboo jersey, rib knits and even lightweight ponte for our Kenwins at Cashmerette HQ. If you’re buying your Kenwin fabric online make sure to check the stretch percentage, and ideally order a swatch – that will let you check that it has great recovery, which means that it “pings” back into shape after it’s stretched, which is crucial for a t-shirt which will won’t bag out when it’s worn.

Love the gorgeous striped t-shirt on Carrie and the blue number on Becca? You’re in luck! Stonemountain & Daughter are also generously offering Cashmerette Club members 20% off full priced knits this month – head over to your Club Dashboard for details!

More club fun this month

  • Raglan sleeve fitting masterclass

Raglan sleeves look great, but if you need to make fit adjustments they can be a bit confusing, as they work differently to regular set-in sleeves. But do not fear! I’m here to help. This month’s Cashmerette Club fit masterclass is all about how to fit raglan sleeves, featuring brand new Cashmerette fit content! Learn how to change the size of the sleeves, alter the shoulders, back and even the bust of the Kenwin, and any other raglan patterns. Club masterclasses are one of our members’ fave things about the club, and they’re exclusive for Plus and All Access members, who get instant access to the whole back catalog.

  • Learn how to clone your clothes at the live event

This month’s live event is all about cloning your clothes, with very special guest CL Hardie, aka The Thrifty Stitcher! I’ve been asked so many times for advice on how to copy RTW clothes that you love, and I’m delighted to have CL join us as she’s a true expert – and just wrote a new book on the topic, “Cloning your Clothes” (affiliate link). She’ll be talking about the benefits of copying your clothes, several approaches to doing it, and how you can then use your new cloned pattern to create different styles while retaining the same fit.

The live event is on Wednesday September 25th at 12pm ET (9am PDT; 5pm BST; Sept 26 @ 2am AEST) And, it’ll be recorded so you can always watch later.

Dramatic party dresses might get all the attention, but if you’re anything like me, the Kenwin T-Shirt is the type of garment that you’ll actually end up wearing All. The. Time! I look forward to seeing what you make – remember to tag your pics on social with #KenwinTshirt and #CashmeretteClub so I can give you a virtual high five.

Excellent! Thank you for this!! I’m curious to know what trousers Becca is wearing… please!

    1. Hi! They’re RTW but similar to our Meriam Trousers (in leg shape), Magna Pants (from my book “Ahead of the Curve”) or the Calder Pants (with slimmmer legs)

Let me know what you think!
