You may have seen this month’s Cashmerette Club pattern, the Marblehead Swimsuit and thought how on earth do the models look so.. supported?! Well the answer is on the inside, which I’m going to share with you today.
The Marblehead Swimsuit is a Cashmerette Club exclusive – BUT if you sign up before the end of August 2024 you can have it for $9, without an ongoing subscription! Just sign up as a “Base” member and then cancel any time – except, I think once you see everything that’s available you might just be tempted to stay 🙂 Sign up for Cashmerette Club here and get the Marblehead straight away!
In the interests of Big Boob Fashion And Science ™ I took these beautiful photos of myself wearing Rachel’s Marblehead Bikini Top inside out, so you can see exactly what’s going on to give you amazing, wirefree support that looks effortless from the outside. Two things to quickly note: 1. it’s not *exactly* my size, so the cups are a tiny bit small for me and 2. I tucked the ties inside the cups so you can see everything clearly, but if you’re wondering why they’re a touch lumpy, well that explains it 🙂
As you can see, the secret is a fully seamed non-wired bra, based on the same awe-inspiring fit as our best-selling bralette, the Loftus. The internal bra is made using non-stretch bra-making materials, which, together with the seaming, allows the swimsuit to give you such great shaping and lift. I’m a 38 H and believe me, my boobs would be solidly 4 inches lower if they weren’t in this.
Unlike the Loftus, there’s no back hook and eye, and instead it has a front closure. There’s two options for support: you can just have the lower closure which is visible on the outside, but you can also add the second closure you can see here, which ends up being hidden behind the tie when the bikini is worn the right way around. Believe it or not, I actually find I don’t need the second closure because the tie securely provides the support I need as a 38 H – but the option’s always there if you need it. There are also two small bits of boning in the middle front opening which help keep it from collapsing down – but they are optional if you’d prefer not to have them.
Once the internal bra’s done its work, you can then put whatever swimsuit fabric you like on top, and no-one’s any the wiser!
We’ve had tons of people asking if perhaps this non-wired bra could be adapted to go inside other types of clothes or become different types of bra to which I say… watch this space!!
Do you have any questions about the innards of the Marblehead? I’d be happy to answer!
Jenny, you are adorable. I love your humour and your Very Brave pictures, and I have to say, you look darn good in them. Newbie club member (since the Loring) and loving it. This design is amazing. I loathe wires and was reduced to lining my bikinis with power net, to try to beat the sag. This looks so much more comfy as well as stylish. So happy I got the membership 💜
This bra-bikini would be great as a base under a vest-type top – so no bra straps showing!
I’m tempted to try the Marblehead (amongst other patterns!) but I’m in the UK and I don’t want to be printing pages and pages of PDF patterns to be stuck together! An option for a UK membership would be fab!
Could you take the AO pattern to a copy shop or printer to have it printed?
Yes you can! There are also lots of online copyshops that will print and send to you, typically for a lower price than print stores. We have a list here: https://blog.cashmerette.com/2017/06/how-to-print-pdf-copyshop-files-cheaply.html
