Cashmerette Club: Meet the Marblehead Swimsuit, the Club Pattern for August

If you’ve got a big bust like me, finding clothes often feels like an endless series of compromises – trying to find support AND style AND comfort? It’s frequently impossible in ready-to-wear. And swimsuits are some of the worst culprits – the hours I’ve wasted anxiously searching for (and failing to find) a new suit for vacations isn’t worth thinking about.

That’s why I’m super excited to share with you our latest Cashmerette Club pattern: the Marblehead Swimsuit. It truly ticks all the boxes: fantastic non-wired bust support, a totally cute front-opening design, multiple coverage options, and an exceptionally comfortable fit. So you can forget about the last-minute vacation shopping, and enjoy your next trip to the beach with confidence.

This is a past Cashmerette Club pattern, which you can download instantly today as a Cashmerette Club member on our yearly All Access level! To learn more and sign up, click here.

The Marblehead Swimsuit tops come in sizes 28 C – 54 J, and the bottoms come in sizes 0 – 32 so you can mix and match to create your perfect fit. The pattern is exclusively available to Cashmerette Club members. Not a member yet?  You can join today on our monthly or yearly plan.

Meet the Marblehead Swimsuit

The Marblehead Swimsuit gives you multiple style and support options, so you can pick the combination that’s exactly right for you – or even create your own mix-and-match mini swim wardrobe!

Marblehead bikini top

  • The bikini top features a fully integrated non-wired bra for excellent support and coverage, no matter what you’re doing.
  • The top opens from the front so it’s super easy to get on and off
  • The back is a high coverage racer back style, which helps give you even more bust support without straining your shoulders (can you tell the whole Cashmerette team has big boobs too? We know the struggle!)
  • The front band closes with a clasp, and if you want extra-support, there’s the option to add a second clasp behind the front tie. Alternatively, you can just use the tie alone!

Marblehead tankini top

  • The tankini top features everything that the bikini top does – but added coverage, so that if it’s worn with the higher bottoms, you’ll get the look of a one-piece, with the convenience of separates. The one difference is there’s no clasp at the underbust, but you can still add the optional clasp behind the front tie for more support.

Marblehead bottoms

  • And to complete your dazzling new swimsuit, we’ve got two swim bottoms for you, in higher and lower rise options. Fully lined with hidden elastic, you could even make different colours to create new swimsuit looks!

The Marblehead is rated advanced beginner due to the integrated soft bra, but if you want more help, we’ve got you covered with a free step-by-step video sewalong hosted by Whitney of TomKat Stitchery

Selecting your Marblehead Swimsuit fabrics

The outside of the Marblehead Swimsuit is designed for classic 4-way stretch swimsuit fabric such as nylon spandex and lycra spandex.

Then for the lining, you have different options depending on how much support you’re after – you can self-line with the outer fabric, use swimsuit lining fabric, or use specialist bra fabric (non-stretch bra cup lining and midweight powermesh).

You’ll also need some notions: one or two 1” clasps/hooks for the bikini top and one 1” clasp/hook for the tankini (depending on how much support you want – see the instructions for a full run-down of support options!), 1” swim elastic, ¼” swim elastic, and a small amount of ¼” plastic boning with casing. Lots more information is included in the instructions to help you decide which combination to use.

What else is in the Cashmerette Club this month

Join me in this month’s masterclass to learn all about refining princess seams. This style of seam is a fantastic option for busty sewists, but can also be slightly tricky to perfect. Well no worries! I’ll be taking you through the key things you need to know to get a beautifully smooth seam that hits you in all the right places.

Club masterclasses are one of the most popular parts of the Club, and they’re exclusively for Plus and All Access members, who get instant access to the entire library of masterclasses. Base members can upgrade at any time!

And in this month’s Cashmerette Club live event we’ll be talking all about how to sew clothes that truly last. After you spend hours designing, prepping and sewing a new outfit the last thing you want is for it to not survive the washing machine or start wearing out – so I’ll be sharing all my tips on how to sew quality clothing that may even be multi-generational! The live event is on August  21st at 3pm EDT (12pm PDT, 8pm BST, Aug 22nd @ 5am AEST ). Club members can register now through the Club Dashboard.

I’m so glad when we’re able to create a pattern that solves a major problem – and I hope you agree that the Marblehead Swimsuit meets the ticket! No more worrying about accidental wardrobe mishaps, or having to compromise style for support. Make the Marblehead and you can focus on what’s ACTUALLY important: having an amazing time in your brand-new suit.

As always, I’m so excited to see what you make – remember to tag your pics on social with #MarbleheadSwimsuit and #CashmeretteClub!
