Your Cashmerette Makes: 5 Lovely Loftus Bralettes

A supportive non-wired bra for big boobs? If you’ve ever tried on a ready-to-wear bralette, it can be hard to believe such a thing is possible. Well, believe the impossible with Cashmerette’s Loftus Bralette. And we want you to get inspired to sew your own lovely Loftus after perusing these Loftus Bralettes sewn by makers in our community!

With its 3-piece cups, internal powerbar, and wide band, the Loftus is everything you’ve ever wanted from a bralette: comfort, style, and most importantly, support. Here’s what makes the Loftus so great for big boobs:

  • It comes in band sizes 28-54 and cup sizes C-J, which means you have over 120 sizes to choose from to get your ideal fit.
  • Its 3-piece cups are made from non-stretch fabric or lace to provide lift and a rounded shape, with an internal powerbar for maximum support.
  • The center front insert can be cut to different heights depending on the coverage and support you desire.
  • It has adjustable straps for a customized fit from day to day.
  • The wide hook-and-eye closure at the back means you don’t have to struggle to pull it on over your boobs!

The Cashmerette Loftus Bralette is a non-wired bra sewing pattern for large busts in sizes 28C to 54J. It’s rated intermediate, and our detailed, step-by-step illustrated instructions and free video sewalong walk you through the entire process from start to finish.

Enjoy these 5 different takes on the Loftus by Cashmerette makers to help inspire you in making your own Loftus masterpiece.

Gemma’s Loftus

Gemma can’t get over the amount of support that her non-wired Loftus Bralette gives her and we can’t get over that brilliant red floral fabric. Easy, breezy, and completed in a day, Gemma’s Loftus is a win-win. She sewed hers in a 44H and used a kit and Duoplex for the outer fabric.

Her measurements are 53” full bust and 44” under bust (134 cm full bust and 111 cm under bust).

Here’s what Gemma shared with us about her Loftus:

“The Loftus was a joy to sew! I completed it in a day and loved the process. It is an amazing bralette. I’ve never had this much support from a non-wired bra or bralette.”

Syreeta’s Loftus

Perfect for lounging around the house with the AC on full blast this summer, Syreeta’s pretty floral Loftus is giving support and lift like no other bralette. She used a 32 band with 38J cups, a sheer cup for the lining and powerbar from Porcelynne, stabilized firm power net and teal power net for the band. Her blue floral fabric is a pretty quilting cotton gifted by a friend.

Syreeta is a happy camper in her Loftus and plans on making more in the future. Her measurements are 46” full bust and 35” under bust (116 cm full bust and 88 cm under bust).

Here’s what Syreeta shared with us about her Loftus:

“Overall, a quick sew, just a couple of hours. Definitely something I can see myself sporting in the hot hot summer with the AC on full blast around the house. One of the better bralette patterns available on the market for large boobs and the best fitting one so far! Feels rather supportive.”

Jenny’s Loftus

Coming into her own as a bra sewist, Jenny’s Loftus Bralette experience dispelled any previously-held bra fears and left her eager to make more. From cutting the fabric of her black lacey Loftus to final try, she made her bralette in just under two hours which may just be a new world record.

Jenny sewed hers in a 46C and used a kit with lace, tricot lining, and power mesh. Her measurements are 49” full bust and 46” under bust (124 cm full bust and 116 cm under bust).

Jenny shared this about her Loftus:

“I’ve always been afraid to try bra sewing but this experience has me eager to make more. There are a couple finicky steps but the directions make it really clear how to proceed. I made my first Loftus in just under two hours from cutting the fabric to final try on. Easy & satisfying!”

Shelley’s Loftus

Shelley describes the Loftus Bralette as a miracle of modern engineering and we tend to agree. Still swooning from the amount of support her Loftus provides, the multiple size combinations, and the step by step instructions, Shelley is head over heels for her new bralette and nothing makes us happier than that.

She sewed hers in a 36C narrowed at the center insert by 1/8 inch. She used a standard bra kit with 1.5 inch elastic so that it would work with a 3×3 hook and eye fastener. Her measurements are 39.5” full bust and 35” under bust (100 cm full bust and 88 cm under bust).

Shelley shared this about her Loftus:

“The loftus is basically a minor miracle of engineering! I’ve never had so much support for the girls from a bralette – could literally run for multiple buses in it. I’m not going to lie – it’s not a quick and easy sew – but the pattern drafting and instructions are superb and take you step by step through it. The multiple size combinations mean you’ve got the best chance of getting a good fit straight out of the gate that I’ve ever seen.”

Britney’s Loftus

Bamboo and mesh has never looked sweeter than on Britney’s Loftus Bralette. With the straightforward drafting and instructions, she found this to be an enjoyable sew—something that bra making hasn’t necessarily been for Britney in the past. She made a 40F and used a bamboo lycra outer and power mesh. And while she thinks should have sized down in the cup, she found the pattern and the overall experience quite phenomenal.  Same, Britney, same.

Her measurements are 47” full bust and 41” under bust (119 cm full bust and 104 cm under bust).

Here’s what Britney had to say about her Loftus:

“This pattern is phenomenal. The drafting and the instructions, like whoa! I was very impressed. Finding my size was straightforward using the size table. The instructions were very clear and there’s an attention to detail. Due to all of the above, it was an enjoyable sew and that hasn’t been my previous experience with bra making.”

what would happen if you made this in all woven fabrics?

    1. It is designed for woven fabrics (with the exception of the back band which needs to stretch for it to fit).

  2. Cheryl F Gray says:

WOW, this all turned out so nice! These ladies got the fit right and love the fabric choices : )

  3. Wendy Dyhr says:

I loved looking at the beautiful bras/. They all look amazing. I have recently undergone surgery for breast cancer. As a result my boobs are now very different sizes and shapes. Is it possible to measure to interchange cup sizes within the same bra? This could be a savour for others with the same problem.

I hope Im allowed to post this… Have you ever heard of Awesome Breastforms? It’s a group of volunteers who knit or crochet beautiful forms for women who’ve lost them. You can order a single or a pair in cotton yarn or swim yarn. And they are free. Check them out https://awesomebreastforms.org. Im one of the crochet volunteers and I love making them. They are much lighter than the silicon ones you can get.

Let me know what you think!
