Meet the Elmwood Skirt
Exude confidence in an Elmwood Skirt! Designed specifically for curves, the Elmwood features:
- A curved waistband
- Invisible center back zipper
- Hip-hugging side seams
- Back darts for shaping
- Full lining
- Optional front angular pockets
- Two hem lengths: View A is knee-length with a back slit and View B hits above the knee
The Elmwood is rated advanced beginner and comes with a free step-by-step video sewalong that you can watch anytime.
The Elmwood is designed for mid-weight woven fabric such as wool suiting, linen, poly/cotton, or poly/wool blend. Stretch woven fabric may also be used—look for a midweight fabric with 2-way stretch (not 4-way) such as stretch suiting or a stable ponte.
Line your Elmwood with lightweight lining fabric such as rayon Bemberg. If you’re using a stretch woven, use a lining with the same amount of stretch.
Jenny is wearing a knee-length Elmwood in a black and gold brocade and a mini-length Elmwood in a plaid double faced wool. Brit’s Elmwood was made in a purple and green brocade, while Ana’s Elmwood was made in a windowpane wool generously gifted by our friends at Core Fabrics.
Sarah is wearing an Elmwood Skirt in a size 30. Her measurements are 49″ waist and 59″ hip.

Also New in the Club this Month: Masterclass & Live Event
Club members in the Plus and All Access tiers get a new fitting masterclass every month! This month, Jenny is diving into full bust adjustments for princess seams. Princess seams are great for full busts because of the shaping they provide, but what if your bust is larger than the pattern is designed for? Jenny shows you multiple ways to do a princess seam FBA to help you get the best fit out of your me-mades.
Plus and All Access members also get access to this month’s live event. This month, we’re talking all about how to plan your makes. If you’re looking to create a more curated closet (or just get your project queue under control), come to this event armed with a pencil and paper and get ready to plan!
Head to the Club dashboard to learn more and register to attend. Can’t make it live? This event will be recorded and shared with members afterward.
