6 Summery Kineton Dresses

This month’s Cashmerette Club pattern is the Kineton Dress, a curve-friendly woven dress pattern with an elasticated waist and two fun sleeve options. We know how helpful it can be to see a new pattern on different bodies, so here are 6 makers from our community to show you their take on the Kineton!

Celebrate summer in a new Kineton Dress! This floaty woven frock is easy to sew and wear, but what you’ll love most is how well it fits. The Kineton features bust darts and a V-neckline designed for a full bust and an elasticated waist for all-day comfort, plus two sleeve options: a long bishop sleeve with an elasticated wrist flounce and a short puff sleeve. Top it all off with roomy side-seam pockets (because who couldn’t use more pockets?!) and you’re ready for a backyard bash or an evening stroll along the water. This pattern comes in sizes 0-32 and cup sizes C-H and is available exclusively to Cashmerette Club members.

Here are 6 gorgeous Kinetons to get you inspired to make your own:

Jamara’s Kineton

Jamara made her Kineton in a colorful rayon challis. She made a size 8 C/D and deepened the V neckline by 1.25″, and her measurements are 34″ high bust, 36″ full bust, 28.5″ waist, and 37″ hip.

Jamara told us this about her Kineton:

Sewing the Kineton dress was really quick and easy. Adding the bias tape to the neck line helped to make a nice sturdy V-neck. I love how easy fitting and comfortable it is.”

Sierra’s Kineton

Sierra has made quite a few Cashmerette garments over the years, but this one might be our favorite! The abstract animal print rayon challis that she picked pairs perfectly with the Kineton, and she is absolutely radiant in it.

Sierra made a size 26 G/H and her measurements are 50.5″ high bust, 56″ full bust, 46″ waist, and 55″ hips.

Here’s what Sierra shared with us about her Kineton:

“The instructions were very clear and I like how everything came together. I had no idea how we would add elastic, but I like the method used here. I had a positive experience sewing this and feel absolutely amazing in the dress. I instantly felt fancy when I tried it on.”

Sofía’s Kineton

Sofía used a fun Dalmatian-style print on charmeuse for her Kineton, which she shortened by several inches. This version transitions perfectly from day to night!

Sofía made a size 14 G/H graded to a 12 in the hips, and her measurements are 38″ high bust, 43″ full bust, 33″ waist, and 42″ hips.

Sofía told us this about her Kineton:

“I really enjoyed this pattern! The steps were easy to follow along and were very clear. The neckline instructions were super clear and resulted in one of my cleanest sews ever! I wasn’t originally going to sew View B, but so glad I did. The puff sleeves are gorgeous and add so much character to the entire look.”

Sean’s Kineton

Sean made her seersucker Kineton in a single afternoon—we love a quick make that turns out beautifully! She chose to finish the neckline with a visible binding for a sweet design detail.

Sean made a size 22 E/F and her measurements are 49″ high bust, 52″ full bust, 47″ waist, and 56″ hip.

Here’s what Sean had to say about her Kineton:

“The Kineton Dress was so simple to throw together. The process in total took me 4ish hours so this is a perfect “one day dress.” Instead of hiding the bias tape on the neckline, I really liked how it looked against my fabric so I instead I sewed it to the right side at 1/4 inch, flipped it under, and topstitched it down so it forms a neckline boarder. I chose the short sleeve because we are going to DisneyWorld and I want to make sure I can wear this in the heat!”

Jess’s Kineton

Jess whipped up her long sleeved terracotta viscose Kineton in a single evening as well. She made a size 2 E/F for a closer fit in the bust, and her measurements are 31″ high bust, 35.5″ full bust, 26″ waist, and 37″ hip.

Jess shared this with us about her Kineton:

“The Kineton is a fabulous pattern, I love the simplicity, the fit, and the comfort of the finished garment and the making process was incredibly easy—I made mine in one night!”

Emma’s Kineton

Emma’s Kineton just screams summer (and accentuates the purple tones in her hair beautifully). She made the short sleeves version in a polyester gingham, which she had set aside ages ago to make a dress. The Kineton was the perfect pattern pairing for this fabric!

Emma made a size 20 G/H and her measurements are 45″ high bust, 49″ full bust, 40″ waist, and 48″ hip.

Emma told us this about her Kineton:

“I really enjoyed the construction of the dress, especially the way you get a nice neat finish on the front and on the waistband. I might make it a little longer next time. The dress is so so comfy to wear, I wore it to a flower show and was so comfy all day and could easily make more. A real ‘grab and go’ dress!”

All of these Kineton dresses are fabulous! I have to put the elastic in the waist and hem mine.
