Fabric Inspiration for the Appleton Dress

The Appleton Dress is knit wrap dress available in sizes 0-32 with cup sizes C-H included. Shopping for high quality knits online can be difficult- but never fear, your Cashmerette fabric curators are here!

When shopping for your Appleton fabric, make sure to choose a knit fabric with 50% stretch on the cross grain. Some fabric stores also make a note of what each fabric is suitable for or include information on whether the fabric is opaque when stretched.

While we want a light-medium weight knit for the Appleton, make sure not to buy tissue-weight knits and you will more than likely want a knit that includes spandex/elastane/lycra, so your dress doesn’t “grow” and sag throughout the day.

Let’s browse together, shall we?

The Basics

Looking to make a little black dress? Need a solid color to compliment a printed cardigan collection? These solids will provide a perfect foundation!

Floral Fancies

Feeling flowery? Florals can amp up your feminine vibes, if you so desire.

Geometric and Abstract Prints

If flowers aren’t your cup of tea, geometric patterns can add refined interest to your wardrobe.

Stripes Stripes Stripes!

With no waist seam, the Appleton Dress lends itself perfectly to stripes- no matching required! Play around with the direction of a striped print when cutting out the neckline- but be sure to order extra fabric, if you do so!

Animal Prints

Grrrrrrowl… take a walk on the wild side.

Whimsy and Fun

Who doesn’t need an otter-printed dress to round out their wardrobe? Novelty Double Brushed Poly can be your friend if you’re into the Miss Frizzle look, or just having a good time!

Stretch Velvet and Stretch Velour

When shopping for stretch velvet and stretch velour, make sure your fabric has 50% stretch, and cut all your pattern pieces as they appear on the cutting layouts- nap matters here! You’ll be the belle of the ball in these lustrous plush options!

We can’t wait to see what fabrics you choose when you make your Appleton!
