2019 Fall Fashion Trends for Curves

Temperatures are dropping in New England—and dropping fast. If you’re anything like us, you might be experiencing a wardrobe existential crisis: all of the clothes you adored over the summer are suddenly useless, and everything from last fall seems like old news. If you’re trying to re-envision your look for fall 2019, you’re in luck because we’ve rounded up the hottest fall fashion trends for curves.

You know that around here, we believe in limitless style. Your body’s size or shape doesn’t dictate what you should or shouldn’t wear—only you and your fabulous fashion sense do that. But it can be fun to be trendy, and we love drawing inspiration from curvy bloggers and fashionistas. So if you’re ready to get inspired, let’s go!

Fall Fashion Trend: Animal Print

It’s a jungle out there! Everywhere you look, there are animal prints galore. Leopard, cheetah, snakeskin—even zebra. You can’t go wrong with animal prints this season, whether you throw in an animal-print accent piece or go full-on animalia.

Sew the look: Go wild in an animal print Appleton Dress, or tame the beast with a little animal print color-blocked into your Tobin Sweater.

Fall Fashion Trend: High Waisted, Wide Leg Trousers

The rumor is that the skinny jean’s days are numbered. You may have to pry our Ames Jeans out of our cold dead hands, but we’re also making making way for a wave of high-waisted, wide legged pants.

Sew the look: Tuck a fitted Concord T-Shirt or flowy Cedar Dolman Top into your wide leg trousers to complete the look.

Fall Fashion Trend: Long Coats

This is a trend we can 100% get on board with. Who wouldn’t want to be cuddled up inside an extra-long coat, immune to the gusty winds? If you’re down south where the temperatures are warmer, sew up your coat in a lighter weight fabric and wear it open for a chic street-style look.

Sew the look: Lengthen the Chilton Trench Coat for a maxed out fall look.

Fall Fashion Trend: Slouchy Sweaters

Can you imagine anything cozier? We love fashion trends that are comfortable in addition to being stylish. And this might be the comfiest trend of all trends.

Sew the look: Size up the Tobin Sweater and/or straighten out then side seams for a boxier look. Then throw on a pair of Ames Jeans and you’re good to go!

Fall Fashion Trend: Capes

A cape is a great garment for those transitional times in the year, when you need a little more arm coverage but don’t want to be sweaty under a jacket or coat.

Sew the look: If you wanna get real hacky, you could turn the Chilton Trench Coat into a cape. Here’s a tutorial we found that can help you get started.

I’m so hoping your going to help me make those trousers 😉

I spent considerable time obsessing over a stretch animal print velvet that I finally tracked down on Spandex World (and I’d like to thank the gymnast behind the cutting counter at JOANNS for suggesting I go there to find it). The Turner wants animal print. The Turner is going to have animal print. And I’m going to make my order before I post this comment because I’m not quite that nice.

Spandex World is awesome. I’ve shopping with them for years. Sign up and get the occasional discount code. I don’t work for them, but I shop there. They have LOADS prints…

The styles are great but I am so sick of animal prints! Fortunately my 20-year-old leopard print top is still in great shape and fits right in to the trend.

Love slouchy sweaters! Yeah, how about those trousers? ; )

Let me know what you think!
