Introducing the Pembroke Dress & Tunic sewing pattern!

Cashmerette Pembroke Dress & Tunic: curvy and plus size sewing pattern

Sometimes we design a new pattern and I keep wearing the samples so much they end up a part of my wardrobe by the time we launch: and that’s the case with our new pattern, the Pembroke Dress & Tunic!

A true “secret pajamas” pattern, the Pembroke Dress & Tunic are simple, chic, and made from jersey or lightweight ponte so you have maximum comfort all day, but with that extra bit of polish you know you can get from Cashmerette Patterns.

Whether you go solid or color-block, use the waist tie or the turtleneck (everything is interchangeable), it’s so easy and quick to sew up the different variations that you’ll be building your Pembroke mini-wardrobe in no time.

Plus – we have some awesome kits! Read on for more below.

The Pembroke Dress: View A & B

Let’s start off with the dress variations! Designed as a classic t-shirt dress in style, the two dress variations (A & B) have features that can be mixed and matched to your heart’s content. Want to leave off the waist-tie or add on the turtleneck from view C? You can do that too.

View A is midi-length, with a scoop neck, short sleeves finished with cuffs, and a waist tie, which you cinch in as much or little as you fancy (and yes, you can also tie it at the back if that’s more your style). The neck on both View A and B is finished with a knit binding which is a really nice alternative to a traditional t-shirt neckband. Both View A & B also have side slits – again, you could leave these off, or make them bigger if you prefer.

View B has a higher jewel neckline, and features mid-length sleeves – but you can swap out any of the short, mid or long sleeves, just like in Donna’s dress shown above!

Made from a cotton, rayon or even silk jersey, the Pembroke Dress is super comfortable but still chic enough to wear to the office. Get creative with the solid or color-blocked options!

If you want to make a color-blocked Pembroke Dress like above, here’s the Fabric Requirements:

The Pembroke Tunic: View C

The third view of the Pembroke is tunic-length – perfect for pairing with leggings. It has long sleeves and a turtleneck which has been deliberately proportioned to look good on a curvy figure. The tunic version pairs beautifully with jersey, or with heavier knits like ponte or sweater knits, like the one Donna is modeling below:

Sewing your Pembroke Dress & Tunic

The Pembroke is a beginner-level pattern, which means it’s an awesome first garment project if you’re new to sewing – or a quick one-evening sew if you’re more advanced. The pattern can easily be sewn on a regular sewing machine (no serger required), and our award-winning patterns have thorough instructions which take you in detail through every step.

The pattern is available as a beautifully printed pattern, or a downloadable layered PDF which you can print at home or at a copyshop (A0 and US files are included). And, of course, all Cashmerette Patterns are designed for curves, in sizes 12 – 28 and cup sizes C – H.

And Pembroke Dress Kits!

As if a new pattern weren’t enough excitement, we also have two brand new kits for you. I love to color-block my Pembrokes, and using the “fun” print for the back and ties is such a stylish way to go. Here are the two kits we have for you:

Abstract Prism Pembroke Dress Kit

Sophisticated but fun, this color-blocked Pembroke Dress featured on our gorgeous model Donna above mixes a solid navy jersey with a beautiful abstract prismatic printed jersey in tones of purple, blue and pink.

I made one of these kit dresses in my size and it’s an absolute staple of my wardrobe now!

Tropical Foliage Pembroke Dress Kit

Stand out from the crowd in this simple but stunning color-blocked Pembroke Dress. Combining a classic black jersey with a gorgeous tropical foliage soft jersey crepe, it’s such a winning combination!

Sometimes the simplest garments are the best, don’t you think? After two complex patterns in a row (the Ipswich Swimsuit and the Chilton Trench Coat) I hope you enjoy this palate cleanser as much as I did! Happy sewing, friends!
