Rivermont Sewalong Day 4: Assemble Fronts and Backs

Today we’re going to be assembling our bodice fronts and backs with the skirt or peplum of your Rivermont Dress & Top. Let’s get started with the dress version.

Last time, we completed the front skirt of the dress and now we’re going to attach the front skirt to the front bodice. Pin the skirt to the bodice, right sides together, matching the side seams and notches. The waist darts on the bodice match up with the shorter skirt darts. Sew this seam and press down towards the skirt.

Now, let’s attach the back bodices to the two back skirts. Pin the back bodice to the skirt, making sure the center back seam is aligned, right sides together. Match the notches and the darts. Sew this seam and press the seam allowance down towards the skirt. Repeat with the second back bodice and back skirt.

For the peplum, we’ve already sewn the two back bodices together, so now, pin the peplum to the back bodice, right sides together, matching the side seams and the notches to the waist darts. Sew and press the seam allowance down towards the peplum. Repeat with the front bodice and peplum.

That’s it for today! Next time, we’ll be assembling the back of the dress, so we’ll resume with the peplum next Wednesday!
