Almost exactly two years to the date that Cashmerette Patterns began, I’m thrilled to introduce you to our new website!
Ever since we first launched, I’ve been itching to go back to the drawing board and come up with more fresh and modern branding. I also knew that as the business developed over time, our URL cashmerette.com would need to move from being a “blog with a shop” to a “shop with a blog”. After a few false starts, I teamed up with Aeolidia, experts in Shopify, and Spun Monkey, experts in WordPress and we started working on a new vision. 6 months later, and here we are.
Let’s take a tour!
Our new homepage
The first big difference is that when you land on cashmerette.com, you’ll see a storefront rather than our blog. Up at the top is a simple navigation bar with the main sections, and a link to the blog (if you follow us using Bloglovin’, don’t worry, we automatically switched you over).
Scroll down past our featured products and fabric kits, and you’ll see links to the last few blog posts, a place to sign up for our newsletter (subscribers get advanced access to new patterns and exclusive discounts), and also to a new feature, #MyCashmerette, which highlights amazing makes from our customers on Instagram. If you’d like to be considered for this section, please use the hashtag #MyCashmerette, and also the hashtag for the pattern (e.g. #AppletonDress, #UptonDress).
Pattern homepage
Click on Shop and then Patterns, and you’ll get a page where all of our sewing patterns live. Unlike before, we only have one listing now, not separate ones for Printed and PDF patterns. Also, we have a fun new “refine” bar on the left hand side that you can use to look for specific types of patterns, like Woven Dresses or Knit Tops. Just click on what you’re looking for, and it will show you what we have available.
Pattern pages
Once you’re through to a pattern page, here’s what you’re going to see! Use the dropdown menu (where it says “Choose Pattern Type”) to choose either a printed or PDF pattern. We have all the same information as before, plus a few new features!
- The Learn More tab links you to other blog posts and pages related to that pattern, including tutorials, sewalongs and other garments I’ve made with the pattern.
- Then we have an amazing customer gallery, showing you what other people have made with our pattern! (Occasionally I sneak in there too ;))
- Finally, one of the things I’m most excited about: customer reviews. Read reviews from people who’ve already made the pattern, with tips and advice, to help you decide if it’s right for you. You’ll automatically be sent an email to review a pattern a few months after you purchase, or you can go to the product page, click “write a review”, and add yours at any time. You can even add a photo of your project!
Fabric & Kits
If you’re looking for our fabric and kits, click on Shop in the top nav bar, and then go to “Fabric and Kits”. We have new photography to help show them off to their best, and the set up is much the same as before.
Classes
Looking to learn more about curvy sewing? Click on our Classes tab, and you can choose to either check out our online sewing workshops or in-person workshops.
Click or scroll down, and you’ll see what classes we have on offer and also be able to view the trailer for our latest class.
Further down, there’s listings of our upcoming in-person classes – places still available in Melbourne and NZ!
Sewalongs & Tutorials
For more help sewing your Cashmerette Patterns, click on “Tutorials” and you’ll be taken to our page that covers both sewalongs and tutorials
It’s an easy way to find all our sewalongs in one place!
And we’ve started getting our tutorials up there too – bear with us as we get all the historic tutorials ready for the page.
The Blog
And this blog you’re reading right now… well it still exists! You just have to click on “blog” and you’ll be taken straight there. It’s basically the same as before, with popular posts on the sidebar, and an icon you can click to browse my wardrobe (i.e. everything I’ve ever sewn).
Stockists
There are lots more pages on the site, but the last one I’m going to highlight is the stockists. We get lots of questions every day about where you can buy our patterns. You can order directly from us on this site, and we’ll send anywhere in the world. But if you want to avoid postage or support your local stores (yay local stores!) just head over to our stockists page and you’ll find a list of the stores that stock our patterns, by country and state.
So welcome to our new website! We hope you’ll have as much fun here as we do.
Looks great!
I love the new pattern information on the website! I had been rereading through the blog archives by clicking through from one post to the next. Is that still an option?
Yes you can still read our blog archives
Is there a way to read the posts chronologically that I am not seeing? With the old blog I was reading the posts moving towards the present by clicking next post or the equivalent.
At the bottom of each page of posts you can click to go to the next page (which is the previous set of posts)
