Welcome to the Springfield Top Sewalong!

If you’re just starting out with sewing, and especially if you’re curvy, the Springfield Top is a great place to start! It uses easy-to-control woven fabrics, has a great fit over curves, and is a good introduction to basic techniques – even if you’ve never sewn a garment before, you should be able to make a Springfield.

This sewalong will take you through the pattern step-by-step, and we’ll also cover how to sew with French seams which is a fantastic way to elevate any garment, and some basic pattern adjustments.

Here’s the schedule:

9 August: How to grade between sizes

10 August: How to move bust dart height

11 August: How to sew French seams

15 August:Preparing your fabric and pattern & Sew bust darts

17 August: Sew back

19 August: Sew shoulders and side seams

22 August: How to sew a side seam with slits using French seams

24 August: Finish armholes and neckline with bias facings

26 August: Hemming

I look forward to sewing along with all of you, and seeing what you make!
